GOing to Iceland end of September with DH and two teens. I know UB is an expert - please share itinerary, recommended hotels, online resources etc. Budget is flexible, not the Four Seasons, but nice 4+ star hotels and up. Day in Reykjavik, day on golden circle (w/overnight in Reykjavik), 2 nights in Vik with time to see the southern coast (black sand beach, waterfalls, maybe glacier lagoon tour), on the last full day - drive from Vik and overnight in Keflavik (near airport) with a stop at the blue lagoon on the way. Could also add a day to see the peninsula north of Reykjavik. For hotels, would recommend the “big chains” - Fosshotel and Icelandair hotels. I would camp! Get a car and drive around the road that circles Iceland's coast. Campgrounds are ample and every 10 or 20 miles, you don't need a reservation, just drive up and find a spot ( you can rent equipment or camper with the car). We did the southern loop to the diamond beach and are returning in the spring to finish it. Such a wonderful and relaxed vacation. [ Reply | More
