DH suddenly way into guns. For about a year. Shooting at the range, buying a new handgun every six months. He's very safety conscious - trainings, gun locker, etc. But it's freaking me out. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I think most men go through at least one phase of their lives where they think about guns (if they didn't already grow up with them). My son and DH went through this phase, then they realized the whole process was a complete PITA with weekends and classes and references and fingerprint/record checks ... they just said "eh forget it" and never went to the trouble. I prefer the phase of rebuilding a classic car. I don't like the phase of having the big toys like jet ski and motorcycle, etc. I don't have to worry about dh getting in to guns - dh isn't going to do that, but the classic car thing is a big possibility. I am okay with that. [ Reply | More

It’s probably regional. In NH, where I live, if newcomers complain of guns being shot close to their house, they’re told to go back where they came from on the local FB page. My neighbor warned me not to walk my dog down the road at night and told me he’d keep his gun ready. It’s not suburban exactly, but not really rural in my eyes either. I’d bet NH gun ownership is pretty high. In many cities, I’m guessing gun ownership is high as well, depending on where you are in the city. [ Reply | More
