A recruiter from a major company has blown me out for an interview twice. Twice I have arranged childcare and once she cancelled 15 mins before and once she didn't even bother to cancel just emailed 4 days later. Now she wants to find another time to speak and I kind of want to tell her to f herself but also actually do need a job and the job i'm talking to her about is good. I need to just suck it up right? Only if she is indeed in house. Otherwise it is a spec recruiter [ Reply | More ]

she is in house! but it's so rude that i will need to spend the next 12 hours working on packing my self respect into a teeny tiny box before I respond 'sure!' and set a new time. [ Reply | More ]

Don't do that. She will flake on you once more. Enough is enough. [ Reply | More ]

I’m going to go against the popular opinion here and suggest you try to suck it up one more time. It totally sucks but you need a job and if other candidates drop out because of this nonsense, perhaps you will be the survivor. The power dynamics of being a job applicant are very uneven and that sucks but it’s a reality. Can you do a childcare swap with another mom so that you don’t have to pay a babysitter? ^ pp: I do want to add, if you make it to the next level and the hiring manager pulls the same shit, you should run. The recruiter might just be disorganized, but if the hiring manager does this too then you know the company is a mess. [ Reply | More ]

agree with this. you need a job. also, they are a recruiter. They may have other opportunities. Once you get the gig, the recruiter is gone from your life. i'd suck i t up, even though its insane. And like the responder above said, others will drop from the process if this recruiter is a PITA, which gives you a leg up [ Reply | More ]
