I pulled a crazy girl move (and, yes, I know I shouldn't be wasting my brain energy on it). Around the holidays, I met someone on a dating site...cool, fun, very attractive & attractive. We chatted via text for about a week, had a great time over drinks. Slept together about 5-6 times over the course of the month. Texting slowed way down so I asked if everything was ok. He said his wife (remember, they were separated) was diagnosed with breast cancer so he had to break it off. My heart broke for him - 3 young girls, etc. Occasionally I would check in to say hi and we'd exchange a few words. In June, we fell back into texting and end up sleeping together twice more. The last time I saw him, we made plans to have a sleep over the upcoming week. Exchanged a few more texts after that and then he disappeared the 1st week of August. Never to be heard from again. Really f'ing weird. I sent 4 short texts over the course of 3 days and stopped. Fast forward to last week. I re-joined the dating site. Low and behold, there he was. I sent a short note asking what happened. No reply so I left it alone. However, this is where I went crazy girl. I made a fake profile. All the details are pretty much me but the picture is not me. He pinged this version of me almost as soon as I posted the profile. Chat followed, we shared more pics and he said "I" was drop dead gorgeous. It's been a great week of texting and thinks "I" am the cat's meow. The part that's absolutely nuts, he said he hasn't slept with anyone in years, he's really rusty, etc., etc. I probed to see if I could get to the truth (i.e. he slept with the real me a bunch of times) and he stuck to his lie. I also found out that his wife never had breast cancer. Anyway, he invited me on a date and it's scheduled for tomorrow - it's been on the books for 4 days. Obviously "I'm" going to stand him up. I want him to feel what it's like to get ghosted. Yes, I know it's immature and dumb, blah, blah. Should I just completely disappear on text, give him a 5 mins heads-up that I'm not coming....? Fake you got a last minute engagement party invite to a close friend (one of the Kennedys). You'd love for your Kennedy friend to meet this guy next time they come visit you. If you want to bait him into another date to stand him up again then give a medical/emergency excuse so you can make another date. But frankly, I think you should just stand him up and not respond to further texts asking where are you/what happened. He won't know what to do with that... [ Reply | More ]

I did almost this exact same thing with my ex-dh on a dating site. It was a satisfying one and done. np- my ex did this. I found out when I put a keylogger on his computer. He was on dating websites AND making fake meetings with escorts from craigslist! I just got a spidey sense something was weird and that inspired me to install the keylogger. He claimed he never met up with any of the people in person, but I really had no idea and the trust was gone. We divorced (not just over this, over many things) and ultimately I got remarried to someone amazing who doesn't partake in this nonsense. But imo it's actually pretty common. Men like to see what's out there when they're bored and imagine themselves having sex with all kinds of different women. [ Reply | More ]

My ex did almost exactly this right down to the catastrophic excuses to cut it off with the other women before he got too close with them. I ALMOST was going to say you are talking about my ex, however he only has 1 dc so probably not him. (If his name starts with an E, he works in healthcare and lives in Jersey City... that's him!) Anyways... my biggest advice to women who are worried about their dh doing something like this- if he gives you any reason not to trust him, seems sketchy, or just some sort of intuition telling you something- TRUST THAT! We have animal instincts for a reason. Trust your gut is a common expression because it is accurate and really works. By the way- I agree with the poster who said text him 15 minutes after the date and say "sorry, I walked by and you really weren't my type. Best of luck with your future endeavors!" [ Reply | More ]

OMG I'm dying!!! What a tool! Btw I know you know this but even if this was real, meaning not you, he would do exact same thing he did to teal you. All the guys I know who do this online are still doing it years and years later --- they get ramped up on the fantasy and new sex, the single ones never find "the one" even thought they claim to want to, and yes, many are married. Can I try to out do your crazy girl move (which I love)? My dear sweet sister was divorcing her asshole ex. She found his phone open to a dating site. He was on it. Claimed he'd been in a loveless marriage blah blah blah. I posed as his dream girl and pinged him. I was messaging him while he was in court with my sister. I almost set up a date about 1.5 hours away during a blizzard just to see if he'd bite. He did, but I chickened out. [ Reply | More ]

Can you imagine if after reading this post, your dh calls from work and says he has a dinner meeting, so won't be home until later, and then comes home about 25 minutes later?? And you have 3 young girls? Yikes. [ Reply | More ]

OP: guess what....that’s going to be him. Tomorrow his girls are all starting school. You’d think he would have wanted to be him tonight. Oh....that’s right...he’s going to be! Ha. [ Reply | More ]

one idea I love - maybe for next time? Hire an actress to approach him at the bar/table, throw a drink in his face and cause a huge scene accusing him of cheating on his wife, etc. Video, upload, make viral etc. This is giving me the giggles. [ Reply | More ]

^even better, have actress walk in and say his wife called her, his wife found his online profile and all his texts, throw drink, walk out. [ Reply | More ]

This is probably fake. But the kernel of truth is: the best way to make a guy (or maybe anyone) want you more is to turn them down. Even better - repeatedly. It’s like a law of human nature [ Reply | More ]
