I am helping with the planning of a baby shower and the mom-to-be doesn't want people to wrap gifts, the invitation told the guests to bring unwrapped gifts. The MTB doesn't like the whole sitting around unwrapping thing..... but she still wants to acknowledge the gifts.... any ideas how we can do this? TIA!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

op - actually it is very 'green' and will cut down on the boring opening the present part of the party..... I think it is a great idea, just wondering how to present gifts.... [ Reply | More ]

It is never polite to dictate to someone how to bring their gift. np [ Reply | More ]

why? people register and tell you exactly what they want.... I would think it is easier for people not to wrap.... [ Reply | More ]

No, they register in case you want to check it out and buy from it - that is why you don't include registry info in ivitation - if a guest wants to find out its nice, but it is not mandatory - and telling me how to present my gift because the honored is too lazy or has a thing about opening presents is inappropriate (at best) [ Reply | More ]

I agree - the gift-givers get to decide how they are going to present their gifts, not the mtb. If there are going to be a lot of people, designate someone as a "helper" - while she is opening and oohing over one, someone else can be cutting off the ribbons and loosening the tape on the next. At my shower, gifts were piled into a family heirloom basinette. Pile them in a basinette, Pack -N- Play or Crib! She can still ackowlege each gift so everyone can ooh and aah over it but not wrapping will save time and be much more green. [ Reply | More ]
