I am really struggling with the decision to have a second db. We are really happy with being the three of us, but I have always wanted two kids. Can anyone give me some pros and cons? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

there are many pros: another person for your child to love and play with, another adorable baby in this difficult world, etc. etc. There are only 2 cons: kids are bloody expensive (even with the handmedowns) and you are SOOOOOO tiered at all times! [ Reply | More

i think it depends on what you want out of your family. i find that people with certain goals won't meet their goals if they have more kids and so they want to stop at one. (things like traveling, keeping a certain lifestyle, providing a certain type of education, etc.). if you are happy with how things are and are afraid to have more b/c of a fear of rockign the boat, i'd say go for it. if i had known then what i know now, i probably would not have had a second. the money is tight, there is no time, it is a drain on the marraige, the elder db competes for my attention. having said that, the younger db is an amazing beautiful gift, and i am glad that we have him. [ Reply | More

We went back and forth on this and decided to go for it. We now have ds and dd. I am so happy we decided to have the second child. They are playmates now, which makes things easier for us as parents and I am happy to know they will have each other in the future. It also makes for a vibrant household, with lots of noise, but also lots of funny conversations, experiences, etc. Of course, it will cost more to raise to kids, but I am willing to make that sacrifice because I enjoy them so much. We went back& forth as well and our only regret is that they're 4yrs apart which seems like too much. #2 is such a joy that we had no problems deciding to go for #3 so there'll only be a 2yr gap. [ Reply | More
