Let's talk real estate. Any brokers on who are willing to be genuine about the housing slump and discuss if new developments will drop in price [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

What is your specific question? I dont hear a lot of Brokers saying the market is good do you? [ Reply | More ]

I speak to brokers all the time who try to convince me that the market isn't changed in NYC despite the country wide slump. They think if they all say it loud enough they can spark fear in us and trigger a buying frenzy IMO [ Reply | More ]

I don't think the market is changing much in NYC - certainly not like it is in some other parts of the world. Poster below is correct though that mortgage rates will be going up so any drop in prices will be offset by interest (which at least is tax deductible). Bottom line is that if you are Selling you are most likely Buying too so its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Don't try to time the market because you cannot succeed. [ Reply | More ]

Pretty dark opinion of Brokers huh? I don't think we are interested in triggering fear so much as trying to avoid working with bottom feeders who take pleasure in other peoples pain. I am all for a good buy but some people circling around these days seem to take a perverse pleasure in other people's misery. [ Reply | More ]

People like you make real estate agents sick. We work with you because thats how we earn our (substantial) salary but you are disgusting. Is that clear enough? [ Reply | More ]

I am disgusting for asking a question about new development prices. How does this make me a 'bottom feeder'. I wonder how decent you think it is to show me a 2M studio with a straight face [ Reply | More ]

Not a broker but real estate junkie. Looks to me that this would be a great time to buy if you can get the financing you want. [ Reply | More ]

I am a renter looking to buy and that is my suspcion, esp after Goldman and JPM will have already announced their puny bonuses in November. I really wanted to buy before sept, but thinking we are better waiting. Also, I sense that some buyers if they have to sell are entertaining lower offers. This all said, in the interim mortgage rates will probably rise so you will still have the same monthly payment, so I guess that could argue for tyring to buy now. [ Reply | More ]
