Okay, I've met two moms of 2.5 yos this week whose kids don't drink juice and have never had it. How is this even possible?? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My kids were like that until they went to preschool, then they served juice at preschool and that was the end of that. I still really try and limit juice. [ Reply | More ]

I can't say my child has never had juice - he gets it a parties and such, but we don't buy it. Unless you count orange juice, which he has with breakfast every morning. [ Reply | More ]

Um, yes. The juice part of orange juice was my biggest clue that it is in fact juice. [ Reply | More ]

That was my oldest. We just didn't have it--we don't drink it, so we didn't get any especially for him. He has juice sometimes now but generally he prefers water or milk. But our youngest is 2.5 and has definitely had juice. But it is more a special occasion thing than every day. [ Reply | More ]

my oldest never had juice until he was 3 and went to preschool. I just didn't buy it. He still prefers milk, even when we go out. Younger one had juice by one and LOVES it, have to be careful with him! [ Reply | More ]

OP and I'm not talking about only having it at parties or on trips or whatever. I'm talking not at all. Do these parents never leave their kids' side?? [ Reply | More ]

Well, my kids are with me most of the time. DD is in a co-op preschool (where they serve water--I don't care either way) but I am with her there. And when we have sitters it is in our home w/ what we have to serve. It's totally possible to limit it, or to say no to it when others around are giving it to their kids. It doesn't seem that important--they have it or not, whatever. [ Reply | More ]

I think you are just being overly judgemental now. You have moved on from no juice to the parents hovering. You are spending too much of your time worrying about what other people do [ Reply | More ]

my 5yo and 2.5yo drink juice at most 1x a month at bday parties, never at home. We always gave them milk or water and that is what they have a taste for. [ Reply | More ]

my 5 year old never liked it and never drinks it. she tried it once around 2yo and was never interested again. even at preschool she would pick to drink water instead. now drinks only milk or water, by her own choice... [ Reply | More ]

Do you mean juice as in pasteurized, juice-box, the life-boiled-out-of-it juice? If so, my kid is 5 and a half and has been drinking none of that- by choice. It's pretty simple to achieve; If you're accustomed to drinking live, freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, the other stuff and Tropicana will taste like crap. [ Reply | More ]
