i am planning a bridal shower for my friend. need a space to accomodate 30-40 people. price i was quoted range from 600-800 dollars for 3 hours. is this crazy? is this the norm in nyc? any ideas where i can get a more reasonably-priced space? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

np: ita w/this. I have hosted a couple of bridal showers, and both times we did private rooms in restaurants. The charge was per person, and there was a minimum number (in each case about your #- 30 or 35) but the charge was for the food; there was not a separate charge for room rental. go to your local italian restaurant and ask to have something in the afternoon. most restaurants are slow during the day on saturday and would love to have a party. they should charge by the person and usually give soda/wine/beer. [ Reply | More
