DH and I are expecting first DB, MIL has serious anxiety about being involved enough in my pregnancy and DB. I don't want her meddling in every detail which she will if allowed. What tasks or responsibilities can I delegate to her in order to make her feel involved but keep me from going nuts? Anyone have a MIL like this? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

My MIL is the exact opposite and doesn't give a crap about me, DH or DD. I was bummed about that until I read your post! Does she live near you? Perhaps you can delegate a few small tasks. You are going to have to set the boundaries now though or she will drive you even crazier once your DB arrives. Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

i was about to post something very similar about my mom. we are trying to set boundaries while keeping her involved. i went to the hospital last night with a false alarm , an d she decided she shouldn't go to work today just in case the baby came. to keep her involved, i asked her to go layette shopping with me and told her i'd need her help cooking and such during the first week home. its really overwhelming - i keep saying to her "dh and i would like..." so she doesn't think this is about her. more stressed about mom than the baby!!
