Decided to send my dd to chelsea piers for preschool because I think she will have a lot of fun. Just found out a friend is sending her similarly aged son to one of the top preschools (she'd kept this quiet), one I would never bother trying for because I don't have those kind of connections and I firmly don't believe they evaluate 2.6yo solely on their abilities. Now I wonder that by not, "playing the game" and even trying for the big schools, I've some how put my daughter at a disadvantage later in life. Please tell me this is all ridiculous. My dd is fun, bright, happy and very much loved. It doesn't matter where she goes to preschool, right? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I don't even know what ERBs are and what the top private schools are. Should I? Like I said, am I putting my kid at a disadvantage by not spending more time obsessing over this crap? Shouldn't these schools be courting me, the parent? I know that's not the case in NYC but isn't that what it should be? We looks at schools and select the one we like the best? [ Reply | More
