Trying to hook up a firend. Who do you say has the best black & white cookie in NYC? (Bonus points for Brooklyn.) [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

sorry, no. I am a fan of the original German Amerikaner and I can tell you of some places in Germany where you can buy some really good ones. [ Reply | More ]

what is a "German Amerikaner?" Oh, and (this is me planning five months ahead...) do you have any NYC advice for pfefferneuse (sp?)? My dad longs for good pfefferneuse. [ Reply | More ]

An Amerikaner is almost like a B&W cookie but just white. It is said that Germans brought those over and they evolved in to B&W cookies (they just added the chocolate glaze). Pfeffernuesse? I don't know. I would try some of the bakeries in York Ville. Schaller & Weber has some German manufactured packaged ones. [ Reply | More ]

There is a bakery in Yorkville that has amazing B/W cookies. I can't remember the name and I pass all the time on my way to Gymboree, so has to be in the high 80s on 1st. On the east side of the street. [ Reply | More ]
