Not to be mean, but twins have lost their thrill. It used to be a big deal, but now I just feel bad for the couple and wonder how much it cost for the treatments. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

it really is amazing how common twins are now. i think it has made us overlook how risky twin births still are for the babies and the mother. [ Reply | More ]

Mom of twins (from IVF here): I assume everyone knows we did treatment...I mean what are the chances of fraternal twins naturally? But your comment sounds snarky to me. Nobody WANTS to go through infertility and it is very painful emotionally and physically. I did not want twins, but now that they are a bit older, I am happy that I do not have to go through more treatments to have more than one child. So, ,no, I didn't "check the twins box," but you shouldn't pass judgement on those who did. [ Reply | More ]

Isn't funny how everyone assumes someone with multiples or an older mother was on meds. I concieved without medical intervention at 41 (we weren't even trying to concieve just lax about birth control) and everyone assumes we did fertility treatment. [ Reply | More ]

You have an odd way of not being mean. Why do you even care? [ Reply | More ]

Well, when you see about ten sets of them a day it does kind of lose it's specialness [ Reply | More ]

who cares about specialness? That's not why people do fertility treatments...to allow you to see something special. Poor you. Get a life. [ Reply | More ]

I feel sorry for them when it comes to exmissions. There also a whole bunch of sib twins who get two spots (have never met one who was dinged), so I also feel sorry for people applying in as there seems to be at least one set of twins per class these days. [ Reply | More ]

it really annoys me when people say that it is unfair that twins take up 2 spots in a class...a person can have 4 kids at different times and nobody complains that that family is taking up 4 spots in different grades, but if it's twins everyone thinks it is so unfair. I am totally unconnected and my twins were accepted into 3 good preschools, one ongoing. I have heard that twins are at a disadvantage because there are so many, so I wish people wouldn't make a big deal out of a couple of sets of twins in a classroom. [ Reply | More ]

Well, if there are twins taking 2 spots out of 50, it's very different than 4 kids taking up 4 spots out of 200 over different years. [ Reply | More ]
