For those of you whose dc scored 99 on erbs, did you prep or hire a tutor? Please be honest since this is an anonymous board. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

No formal prep, but for the year prior had been trying to buy educational toys and games versus transformers and the like. [ Reply | More ]

Absolutely no prep. Did not own any blocks (which I regret) either. [ Reply | More ]

One, do you really think people will be honest? Two, how does this knowledge help you? [ Reply | More ]

Bo prep. Going public btw. Have decided that before we start this process, the 30K+ tuition will kill us. Hoping the SB goes as well. [ Reply | More ]

Nope. DD was crazy about the alphabet and puzzles, but I presume many kids this age are? [ Reply | More ]

nothing formal, but sent to preschool which did a lot of work on erb content. did typical enrichment at home. read a ton of books to dc (for example, dc does those summer reading programs at library-we check out something like 40 books a wk for our kids and go through them) [ Reply | More ]

No. My dc is organically smart. Ultimately it's an IQ test (Wechsler Test of Primary and Preschool INTELLIGENCE) and there's no point monkeying around to try to make your dc appear to be something he isn't. [ Reply | More ]

Didn't take ERB, only SB (for Hunter, scored 98) and I did go to the Hunter fairs and buy the educational toys the parents of their students had donated to the fair (matching and sequencing games and so forth) which DC seemed to enjoy. And we played games with magnetic letters and numbers on the fridge, and drew and we read together. But no formal prep. [ Reply | More ]

99 on SB/ERB/olsat. Lots of TV (kid appropriate but also likes grown up shows - discovery, cooking, science, etc.). Loves to draw and make own "books" Seriously, don't worry. No need to hire anyone. [ Reply | More ]

Really, truly madly... don't bother- your child or self with the lunacy of trying to do anything outside of a verbal, enriched and playful preparation. Enjoy yourselves; go to museums, walk in the city, talk to people together, let your kid see you listen- to them and others. Put away all the mighty mind, manipulative, memory, count-y , puzzle-y stuff at least a week before the erb. Burnout will bite you in the ass. [ Reply | More ]
