You get a pass in the morning. It's no big deal. What is your toddler supposed to be learning at that hour anyway? Besides, if you go into Mommy overdrive trying to stimulate him while feeding him and getting yourself ready you'll be burnt out by noon. I say, all the tv you need until 8 AM. No day should start earlier than that!!! [ Reply | More ]

TV is ok, even 2 hours straight. The trick is to reserve TV for those times you really need a break. [ Reply | More ]

I let my kids watch 3 hrs/day since they were 2. They are now 6 and 9 and I still let them watch an hour in the morning and 2 hrs in the evening. They are very bright and active and are doing exceptionally well in school. Don't worry about a little 1 hr of tv in the morning for your toddler. [ Reply | More ]

that's us. people are always curious about what I "do" after school with dcs. they assume i have them do homework (and then some) all afternoon and maybe a little tutoring on the side a couple of times a week. I tell them the truth: "Nothing. We do sports or hang out after school, come home, homework for about 30 min and then tv for 2 hrs and it's bedtime." [ Reply | More ]

This was me. My parents let me do this too. I regret it now. I didn't have the homework discipline for college. That being said, it might not affect all children the same way. [ Reply | More ]

I grew up watching a lot of tv but my parents have always taught me to be responsible about homework and time management. I never had a problem and have always done well in school (grammar to graduate). My dcs know what is expected of them and they do what is required and sometimes more. I try not to be too strict about tv (as long as the shows are appropriate), and so far my boys are very responsible and well-disciplined. Thank goodness. [ Reply | More ]
