Well, there are about 50 K spots each year, some taken by siblings, and thousands of hopefuls [ Reply | More ]

50 spots for a 1000 kids with 99s, so 5% chance. for HS at trinity, they have 60 spots. not sure how many applicants, or the odds that an anderson kid will have a chance. [ Reply | More ]

There were not 1,000 99s. There were 450 this year, and many did not rank A as their first choice. [ Reply | More ]

How many students from Anderson have gone onto Trinity? Usually public students continue in public and private, in private. [ Reply | More ]

So not true.50% of PS 6 kids go to private school starting in 6th. I know Anderson and Hunter kids who ended up at Trinity, Horace Mann, St. Thomas Choir School, Dalton etc. [ Reply | More ]

I repeat, usually kids in public school continue in public and kids from private schools usually continue in private. I'm skeptical about your 50% of PS 6 students going on to private school in 6th grade because there are not many spots for this grade. Do they all go to the hill schools? [ Reply | More ]

Don't you have to start St. Thomas at 3rd or 4th grade? [ Reply | More ]

np: I think ps6 has lots of private SOs. Many wealthy people who could easily afford private. so it is the norm among these families to try for private at the next entry point. UWS school families are much more likely to stay public. [ Reply | More ]

I went to boarding school and am considering sending my dc there in 9th or 10th grade if it seems like a good fit and is financially viable; happy to go public til then. [ Reply | More ]

This is absurd. If these are the kids that were shut out for K, there is no way they all get in for 6th. Middle school admissions are far more competitive for the kids than K admissions, and most schools only take star kids at that poin. [ Reply | More ]

I also have to doubt the 50% number. Friend in office tried applying out from 5th grade at PS 6 this year and was shocked at how few private spaces there were available. Found the only schools with more than a few spaces at 6th grade were HM, Riverdale, and Trevor. [ Reply | More ]

Friends adds a class (around 20 kids) for 6th grade also. [ Reply | More ]

This is a completely bullshit number. PS6 is a pretty large school, and graduates more kids than there are spots in privates for 6th grade. No way half of their kids go private. [ Reply | More ]

Were there really 1000 kids with 99? I thought I'd heard 225 99s and that there were 1000 qualifying for citywide with 97/98/99. [ Reply | More ]

So cute. Welcome, oh clueless one. It just doesn't work that way. I predict that a year from now you will be coming here telling us that you are moving to the burbs b/c ds had a "bad tester" and missed the A cutoff by 1 point. He'll be accepted to mulitple TT's, but you are concerned about the privileged lifestyle influences, so you are rejecting them & you're really excited about moving to Summit. [ Reply | More ]
