while I have not done this, I can totally understand a certain level of it - sometimes and for some phases of life there just isn't the time to commit to exercise. And I find that life is long - if you are fat for a few yrs, who cares? [ Reply | More ]

People just don't get it. It's like brushing your teeth-you want to have healthy teeth and gums. You need to take care of your body as well. You can't get replacement parts like a body veneer. [ Reply | More ]

i know what you are saying in general, but if you have a young db and work 8-9hrs a day (conservatively) and your young db is only awake say 12hrs a day, why waste one of your few hrs/day with db exercising? And usually dh works longer hrs, which means going after db is asleep is usually only at 5am. You have to be really motivated. [ Reply | More ]

This is my situation. I manage to play tennis once or twice a week, but that seems to be all I can manage. [ Reply | More ]

I go at 5-5:30 AM at least 2 times a week, sometimes 3 if I'm really getting good sleep. I'll sometimes go one night a week. I always go once on the weekends. On average I'm getting in 4-5 workouts per week. I used to go 6-7 times per week. Free weight training and running. [ Reply | More ]

No, I just enjoy it. I like pushing my body to the limits. I used to do figure competitions in my 20s. I'm used to the schedule. [ Reply | More ]

It bothers me when I see men do the same thing. I think fat, out of shape people have no respect for themselves. [ Reply | More ]

I am overweight and have issues around food. It is very hard and I know I should take better care of myself. For some of us, it is a real challenge. I bet there are things about you- such as your judgemental attitude, that would make you healthier and happier if you worked on them. Get busy [ Reply | More ]

My dw was doing really well. Then she had a m/c at about 20 weeks. She's been in a funk ever since and her diet and exercise has really suffered. [ Reply | More ]

Depression and low-self esteem accounts for letting yourself go. It's not about not having the time, it's about not caring [ Reply | More ]

disagree - I ran a 10K the week before I went back to work 3 months ago. Since then, I have run MAYBE once a week. For me, its about time. I'm not depressed, I'm pretty darn happy [ Reply | More ]

I walk a lot = should I go to the gym just so I can say I'm a mom who goes to the gym? I'm very skinny - just bc you don't exercise doesn't mean you let yourself go. [ Reply | More ]

i thing the question is are the women who let themselves go women who used to excercize, or are they women who never excercized in the first place? if excercising is part of your life, having a child is not going to change that [ Reply | More ]

i think it depends. either way, having a child takes up a lot of your attention and energy. i don't necessarily admire people who make a point to get exercise. [ Reply | More ]

You sound more judgmental then curious by your replies. Life is different for everyone. I am a boarderline & have seious problem with an injury that has made working out impossible. Other people have their reasons & some are happy the way they are. You need to stop the negativity. [ Reply | More ]

I have 3 kids, sahm with ft help in the city and can't find the time. I probably truly have the time 1-2 days a week but I figure, why bother since it's not enough. Also it would end up being Mon Tues one week and then Thurs/Fri of the following week so the span between workouts gets really long. I can only go btwn 8 am and 6 when I have the nanny (as I'm on my own with the kids the rest of the time).. and between school drop offs, errands, pick ups, playdates, doc appts etc...just doesn't leave me with 3-4 days where I can spend 2 hours at the gym [ Reply | More ]
