My 3 yo ds has been day potty trained since 2.5. He ONLY poops when he wears a diaper for nap and at night. I'm getting so frustrated. He told me he likes to go in his diaper. I just am not sure what I should be doing??? He will sit forever on the potty, but nothing ever comes out. Trying to stay calm... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

in the same boat with my 3 y/o dd. although she'll now wear a pull up ON the potty to poop. baby steps, deep breaths. they'll get there eventually. [ Reply | More

I was going to suggest just that....let them use a Pull-up on the potty. I would bring them to the potty right after a meal too to just sit a while and see if one pops out by surprise. Do you have the book Everybody Poops? [ Reply | More

I've heard that emptying the poop from the diaper into the toilet and getting them to flush it away can help to get them over fear that they might have. GL [ Reply | More

I don't know. I tried that and she just held it. Made her horribly constipated and set off a whole new round of new issues. I wouldn't go that way unless you had to. And at 3y/o, you're not yet to a "have to" place yet. [ Reply | More

Don't push him and he will do it when he's ready. I know from experience! My trained himself by 3.5 but it was hell before then. If you push he may try to withhold which is what happened to us. I wish I had known that he would do it when he was ready. I would not have stressed so much. GL! He will be potty trained before you know it. [ Reply | More
