Our part time (14 hr/wk) sitter will be living with us for 2 weeks while she waits for her college dorm to open. We'll be doing her a favor by letting her stay with us but she'll also be around much of the time to help with 2 toddlers. How should I compensate her for her time...just offer her food? But I don't cook much that's edible so I feel like I should pay a bit. How much? She usually gets $14 an hour. Thanks so much! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'd pay her her $14/hr for the 14 hours she usually works and pay her if you go out in the evening.....ask her if she feels that is 'fair' and that in exchange for you providing a place for her to stay you would appreciate her helping out an extra hour here and there if she around. I think expecting her to sit for free because she is living with you is asking too much. [ Reply | More ]
