What time do your 4 yo's go to sleep? Mine really will not go to sleep before 9 or 9:30. She is youngest, claims it's unfair that older sibs get to stay up later, so even if she's in her room, she's up. Never seems tired at 8 (her actual bedtime) - no matter how early we wake her up. Constant activity. Goes to camp all day and then runs around with sibs until dinner and then often an hour or so after dinner. Very active. [ Reply | More ]

how much later does she go to sleep? my dd had a kid in her pre-k class this past year who would fall asleep every morning b/c she insisted on staying up with her older siblings. my dc usually go to bed between 7 and 8, depending on whether or not they napped. [ Reply | More ]

Nap? What's that? She hasn't napped since she was 1.5. DH says some kids just need less sleep. [ Reply | More ]

yes. also, kids with older siblings tend to not nap as much. too much going on. i'm lucky b/c my oldest is pretty low energy so all my kids still nap. (oldest one dropped her nap around age 4 but still naps on weekends usually) [ Reply | More ]

You are lucky. Mine run around all day and basically collapse, sometimes mid-sentence as they comment on bedtime stories. [ Reply | More ]

yes, we've been pretty lucky. my only suggestion would be to give everyone a slightly different bedtime so that she realizes it is based on age. (even if it's just 15 minutes later). you could also let her look at books but she has to be in bed. but frankly, it's a losing battle. [ Reply | More ]
