Anyone know much about cars? Our brakes and squeaking, but appear to work. Subaru Legacy. 30K miles. I am being told we need to REPLACE the entire brake (not just pads) at the cost of $800, does this sound reasonable or fishy to you? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Sounds fishy. I didn't need replacement until after 100,000 miles! Different car though. Bring it to a local shop or the dealership. [ Reply | More ]

This is what a local shop is telling me, says b/c we drive alot in NYC has worn out brakes. Your experience is similar to my recollection, I expected to need pad change at most. Owner's handbook advises inspect and replace as necessary. [ Reply | More ]
