If you're in Manhattan, what is your 6yo dd doing this summer? If she's in camp, which one and what do you love/hate most about it? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

camp hillard. she loves it so I love it. I also love that the camp is very communicative (I was a little nervous about not being able to do drop/off pick/off and they made the transition very easy for me by communicating so well). [ Reply | More ]

I have heard it is way overcrowded and very JAPpy. Can you clear those myths up? [ Reply | More ]

I don't find it to be either one of those things. As for the Jappy, they wear a uniform and game boys and such aren't allowed on the bus, so I dont' even know how that would play out. maybe some of the moms from westchester are jappy? I live in manhattan and all the moms I've met at the bus stop are not jappy at all. As for being crowded, it doesn't seem it to me at all. The camp is HUGE. And the way it's laid out, there is no one place you can be to see the whole camp. There are several area of fields that are behind rows of trees. So maybe who ever thought it was crowded thought the only part of the camp is what you can see from the parking lot?? I don't know. The camp is huge, but I don't think it's crowded. But it doesn't seem big to my dd b/c she is with the same group of kids most of the day (not for swiming, that is by ability, so the groups get mixed up for that) and there is one counselor for every 4 girls (plus all the instructional counselors) so she doesn't feel "lost in the crowd" at all. Woodmont - both of my kids love it and they are completely different - 1 is very athletic, the other is very "artsy". Warm feeling from owners/directors/staff/etc. [ Reply | More ]
