I'm going to be looking for a sitter a few times a week for a few hours to watch my 6 year old. What would you say is youngest age for sitter? 14? Or is that too young? I want to be able to leave the sitter alone for my ds. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'd probably say 16 or 17 (or even 18). But, funny enough, I remember babysitting for kids 6 and much younger (under 1) when I was 14. Now I don't understand how the parents trusted me. I was paid 75 cents/hour and I remember staying past midnight alot of times. [ Reply | More ]

I met a 14 year old on the plane the other day that I would trust my children with - it all depends on the maturity of the child/sitter. As well a 14 yr old may be more reliable and competent than the same child at 16-18 because they're not yet thinking about dating and after-school activities. [ Reply | More ]
