How do you handle nanny's vacation time? Does she choose 2 weeks whenever, or do you count time you go away that you notify her of in advance? Separately, does your nanny get paid 52 weeks per year no matter what? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Nanny gets paid 52 weeks. I get lots of vacation time, so she gets 4 weeks. She chooses 2, I choose 2. If you can only do 2, I would let her choose at least one if you can, although that might make it difficult for you to plan. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. I get four weeks too. Our problem is that we don't take full weeks at once. We do a lot of single days for long weekends which probably isn't fair to count even if she knows ahead. Although she gets a ton of paid time off as a result and also wants weeks when we are not taking off. [ Reply | More ]

Sometimes you have to adjust a bit. DS's nanny takes her time mostly in the winter, which is pretty much useless to us. [ Reply | More ]

She gets 2 weeks - one week her choice, one week ours. She gets a lot of long weekends though when we are away. I'd say easily another 10+ days off/year that she has at least a week of advance notice. [ Reply | More ]

this is what we do. I end up using my other 2 weeks to cover nanny's sick days, life maintenance, and school volunteering. [ Reply | More ]
