oh please. That's absurd. At that rate, your nanny will be too expensive after only a couple of years! That's fine when you only have one child, but once you have two or three, and after giving raises for the extra child when they are born, you will end up paying $1000 after only a few years! I started my nanny at $12/hour for one dc. After a year and another baby went up to $14. Next year we went only to $15 and we'll stay there just increasing bonus. [ Reply | More

That makes sense. but some nannies really do want a raise every year and if you have a nanny who thinks that way, you are better off raising $25 each year (and $50 for a new baby) than raising $100 each year with two kids, as the OR suggested, and then you can't raise anymore after a couple of years. np: Very few nannies get raises every year after the first 3-4, unless you have a lot of kids. Once kids hit school-age the hours are less so there is just no way to justify a raise, in fact less hours for the same money is kind of a raise too. [ Reply | More
