I just read the thread about predicting the future of your gifted child, and it is so hilarious that some idiot thinks "TT private" children are more gifted than those that go to Stuyvesant. Uh, hello, the only requirement for private school is the ability to PAY. I would much rather my DC go to Stuyvesant that some monied hothouse filled with legacies. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Lol. Where is it? Stuy kids are super smart. I'd pick another school to compare to if I were making that argument. [ Reply | More ]

You are just as wrong as the previous poster. There are many requirements for TT and "lesser-tier" - it is not like one can say "I'm rich I think I'll sign dc up for Trinity. Stuy is a great school and so are the "TT" [ Reply | More ]

Apples and oranges. I don't know why one would compare TT and stuy. Silly comparison if you ask me. Trinity starts in K. Stuy is just a high school. That is just one thing of many that makes it silly. [ Reply | More ]

People want to defend the choice that they have made & seem to think what they did is best for everyone - or if it is not, it invalidates their choice. For our dc, we chose private even though it will be tough, but is was the right decision for us. I have friends who didn't even look at private and those who only looked at private - they all made the best decision they could for dc and their dc will do well. [ Reply | More ]

not op, btw: I agree. So many different types of schools. I know some kids in private (trinity etc.) that I wouldn't label as necessarily gifted or from families with tons of money. Normal, nice kids. Same for publics. [ Reply | More ]
