no job lined up. just want to take some time off to think about things. i feel that when i get back in the mkt, my excuse for leaving this job wont be so bad to get around and they'll totally understand... [ Reply | More ]

When do you want to get back into the market? Given the economy, it could take a year to 18 months to get a new job in finance. [ Reply | More ]

we are financially ok - at least fine enough to be on one income for 12 - 18 months. just want to experience being a sahm, taking a break from finance, but also thinking about other business ideas. i know that the smart decision would be to just stick it out...i just hope that the time goes by fast... If it's just to the end of the year, I'd stick it out. You'll look better job searching with the higher title. You can still quit in the new year and say you wanted to survey the market from time off. [ Reply | More ]

thanks. it's just so hard to make it through - lots of new initiatives to work on and plus, a new direct manager/reporting line... i hope these last few months go by fast! [ Reply | More ]

Give yourself a chart at home and count down the days. Also make a point of taking all your personal and vacation days. But you can make it through. August will be slower, the fall will be nutty but tough it out. You know you can. [ Reply | More ]

You'll get the VP title and probably a bonus of some sort. Stick it out and by then you'll have a plan. It took me until I was 47 to bail out and I never looked back. gl! [ Reply | More ]

why would you stay? is it for the title? are you expecting a bonus? do you need a break or do you want to not be working at all for the longer term or do you just want to start fresh somewhere else. i think you need to be very clear in your mind about what you want and then you can make a clear decision. i would only stay to get a vp title, take some time off to be w/ ds, and then move to another firm. but while i take time off, i'll decide more clearly whether i go back full time or part time, and if i work in ny or closer to home in nj. i dont see myself taking more than 1 yr off MAX. it would be realistic to go back w/in 6 months... Only resign if you are confident that you want to SAH. This is a rough economy for job hunting. [ Reply | More ]
