a good friend emailed me recently to do a 360 feedback on her. some of it is personal, some of it is professional (we have worked together). she is a good friend, but I kind of find her selfish at times (well, most of the time). she is also not the greatest work colleague (my way or the highway type but doesn't always have the talent to back up the chutzpah). should I be honest, blow it off or kind of do a bs-y thing. I don't know what a 360 feedback is, but I would *never* do this for a friend or a personal connection- you end up criticizing personality (which mostly can't be helped) rather than work performance (which mostly can be helped). Evaluations are for work environments only imo. [ Reply | More

op here-thanks for replies. the thing is that I think my friend could use some honest feedback. got fired from last 3 jobs for "clashing" with bosses. and from what she said to me, I would say the bosses were right, though I haven't said so to her. i sort of feel stuck-would love to help but don't want to hurt. but unless she has some sort of wakeup, think there will be more firings in her future [ Reply | More

I don't think she gets it, but I have said this to her (after each time). Her comment was that she was choosing the wrong job each time. maybe I just need to to have a heart to heart irl instead of this cockamany 360 thing. or just let her do what she wants. I did this for a close friend out of desperation, she needed it, and it was awful, it did not work, now she is even more insane in dealing with me, and hasn't changed a bit, your friend has a personality disorder and we just can't change it by explaining it, it honestly won't change without years of psychotherapy.......
