Any thoughts on the parole board moving into the same building as St. Ann's? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yes seriously. What's the problem here? Do you think sexual predators will be lurking in the halls of ST A because of this? Do you realize sexual predators can figure out where a school is and lurk in the hood anyway? [ Reply | More ]

Of course, but having parolees sharing a building with a school does not seem like a *good* idea to me [ Reply | More ]

You are being purposely naive. Sure parolees can come into contact with kids anyway, but why actually pull them together? [ Reply | More ]

^^^and the issue is not just sexual predators. Drug dealers, robbers, violent criminals, con men. [ Reply | More ]

Are you serious? You believe that a criminal on parole is going to sell drugs in teh same building as the parole board? Hell, why not in front of a police station. Get real [ Reply | More ]

As an ex-criminal defense attorney, I would not be at all surprised if a parolee were to try to make contact with kids he sees on a regular basis or follow them home and yes, even in front of the parole board building. Impulse control is not one of their better things. [ Reply | More ]

oh please, he can follow them home if the board is housed in the same building, in the building next door, in the building two doors down or three blocks away. [ Reply | More ]

or if the school is right out of the subway that is nearest to the parole board location. Give it up. [ Reply | More ]

nope. I still wouldn't like my kid to go to school in a building housed in the same building as a parole board, and I'm thinking neither would you, in reality. [ Reply | More ]

You think wrong. I truly don't care. Nor do I care if a convicted sexual perv moves into my building. I protect my child from the harms as best I can. From the convicted felons/pervs AND the ones who have not been caught that also live in my building and happen to have business in the vincinity of my dcs school [ Reply | More ]

I am not being naive. I am asking for a reason this is a bad idea. You don't seem to be able to give a single one. Think about it. [ Reply | More ]

I did give one. Parolees are not allowed to go into bars; they are not allowed to gamble; they are not allowed to hang out with other parolees. There is a reason for this. It is expected that they will get into trouble, commit more crimes. You are putting predators next to children. How is that not a reason? [ Reply | More ]

not a very good one, or it would be a rule that they are not allowed to enter into a building with a school for any purpose including reporting to their po [ Reply | More ]

Parolees have kids, so of course you couldn't do that. But inviting hundreds of parolees to visit a school building on a weekly or monthly basis is a different thing. [ Reply | More ]
