Anyone provide health insurance for their nanny? Are there any inexpensive alternatives? Our potential nanny is 26 and healthy, but insurance would cost $10k per year. That seems crazy. It's just subsidizing someone with poor health. At the same time, don't want to "self-insure" in case something bad happens. Suggestions? Ideas? TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

look into freelancers insurance (she'd sign up for it but you could pay for it).... I know what you mean though - I am 25, healthy, luckily my boss pays my insurance but it is over $600/month [ Reply | More ]

I would love to do this. I really wish there were a way for employers who hire on the book to get there nannies into a group plan. Our nanny is in a NY plan for low income families (forget what it is called), but I wish we could help her get better care. [ Reply | More ]

They probably qualify for "Healthy NY" NYS plan. Not bad insurance, and relatively cheap. [ Reply | More ]
