Gifted doesn't mean genius (as in Little Man Tate). It's just a category defined by those scholars in the field. http://www.educationaloptions.com/levels_giftedness.htm [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Mine appears to be either level 3 or 4. [ Reply | More ]

Ditto. #1 is a mix of level 3 and 4 while #2 is more like a 2 (but then she's only 18 months old). [ Reply | More ]

I feel like dc is growing up too fast and don't teach anything on purpose. Call me crazy but I don't think being too advanced is a desirable thing. [ Reply | More ]

I hear you. Especially the early reading thing can be a little much especially when you in the subway station and your kid reads all the bill boards and asks you what it all means. [ Reply | More ]

Subway station signs are not so bad.. but you do have to babyproof all your books away bec the content is not appropriate. You have to be careful about letting dc do internet search on her own also. [ Reply | More ]

You must not have gotten asked what "erectile disfunction" means in a crowded subway car with 30 people listening to my explanation. [ Reply | More ]

this is a useful scale. My dc seems to be a 3 but a 4 in strongest area. GT is a level one with some level 2 kids and the occassional outlier 3. Anderson and Hunter are mostly level 2 kids, although there are under-served 3s and 4s in the schools. I've never met a level 5. Where do you moms with 3s and 4s send your kids to school where their needs get met at all? [ Reply | More ]

np; level 4 kid (some 5 traits). Chose progressive private. There was a mom here with pg kid who likes the school also. I don't know about Anderson (olsat and no onsite) but Hunter- I think mostly level 2-3 kids and probably some 4 kids and possibly 5 (they are very rare, maybe one a year, if that)... [ Reply | More ]
