sorry for repost. was told at 15 1/2 weeks pg that i am having a boy.we clearly saw the penis. the sonogran machine is very clear. the doc saw it clearly. then said after that he is 95% sure that it is a boy. so is it a boy. how accurate is 95%? do they always use the percentage no matter when they do the sono? we saw the penis but the 95% is throwing me off. or are those pretty high odds. thanks [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Friend's doc delivered her baby and said, Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! The nurse said, Uh, doctor, it's a girl. Doc was sure it was going to be a boy from the sonogram.... [ Reply | More ]

I don't understand the question. 95% is very high odds -- it means out of every 100 babies, they are right for 95. You could be one of the 5 out of 100 in which the sonogram is wrong. Can't you just accept that you are "probably" having a boy, but won't know for sure until later -- 20 week sonogram perhaps or after amnio. [ Reply | More ]

I'm guessing one of 2 things -- she wants to know if she can tell people it's a boy. Or, she was hoping for a girl and is wondering if there's still a chance she'll get one. I think the problem is that she thinks she was first told "it's a boy", then later told "of course, only 95% accurate", so that threw her. [ Reply | More ]

^^^in other words, right now, you do NOT know for sure what the gender is, so don't assume you do. But you are more likely to have a boy than not. Still no guarantee in either event. [ Reply | More ]
