just found out our 10 mo has "mild" anemia. his ped didn't seem too worried. anyone btdt? what exactly does having anemia mean for a toddler? thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

mine had it too. No big deal. Just means they need more iron in their diet. Babies get it more easily, esp. if they are b-fed. Were you told to give your db an iron supplement? [ Reply | More ]

Almost all grow out of anemia, unless it's due to some underlying problem. For instance, I always show as borderline anemic since I have beta thalassemia (I'm a carrier for some blood disorder). But I really wouldn't worry about that. [ Reply | More ]

just means he needs a little more iron in his diet. Did ped give you dietary recs? Creme of wheat is an excellent source, also some of the kids waffles have lots, but you have to read labels. Strawberries and peas are also good toddler friendly iron rich foods. [ Reply | More ]
