zipcar horror story -- what would you do? had to pick up dd from camp. booked a car 2 months ago. Get to car and I can't get in. Call zipcar -- from nowhere brooklyn -- and they say, "yeah, says here the battery is dead (they knew about this and never contacted me) let's see what we can find." after 30 minutes, she says, "we have a car in jersey city for you. just flag down a cab." I explain I'm now late to get my dd at sleepaway camp, 2 hours away, and ask for a supervisor. On hold too long so I hang up and call DH who starts calling rental car places. I call Zipcar again and a new woman says, oh, we have a car for you one subway stop away. perfect. i race there, calling dh on the way to stop the search, get to location #2 and THE CAR WON'T START. The garage guy says, "yeah a lady tried to get it 30 minutes ago. zipcar knows that car isn't working." ARGH. Finally get a car 5 stops away because I changed my return time by 30 minutes (DUH) and get on the road THREE HOURS LATE. ONE HOUR AFTER I was supposed to pick up DD. I'm so mad I feel I need to do something more than just cancel. How can a business get away with that crap?? Suggestions? Thoughts? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]
