Potty training question: My 2.5 dd has been peeing and occasionally pooping on the potty for a couple of weeks now - but only does it when she's home or at a relative's home with the floor potty. What's the next step? I put her in diapers when we go out, ask her to tell me if she has to pee and I carry a portable potty with me, but she doesn't seem to want to use it. Hasn't used the potty when nanny is with her at all. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm trying to remember exactly how it worked w/ my 2 y.o. (she's 2.5 now) when she potty trained. There were a few days in there where we stuck close to home and ran to the potty. But I think we just went to panties pretty quickly. Before we went out I'd have her sit on the potty and then I'd try to keep trips out short. Initially strange toilets scared her a little, but she got through it. I had her sit facing backwards at first to feel more secure. I think she had one or two accidents all together (home & out). As far as our sitter I just told her each time to remind her. It all worked out. [ Reply | More ]

Take advantage of summer - I would leave her with no pants on at home for two days and let her use the potty full time. NO pants means fewer accidents and more incentive to use the potty. Put undies on after a few days and forget all diapers [ Reply | More ]

Gulp! I think I just have to take the leap. I think dd is ready - she's the one that instigated the potty use to begin with! [ Reply | More ]
