So I had a C-section a couple of weeks ago. I have been told I can't lift my first - 40lb dd. I couldn't go to a family function, and DH was relaying a story to me... a friend was telling him "Oh, I lifted both my older kids after my C-section, even though they told me the same thing". How to interpret this? WHY is DH sharing this stupid story? Is it hormones making me over-react, or do I have a right to be pissed? It's like he's telling me I am making a big deal of the C-section and should pick up dd? WTF? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

take it from me. you are way overreacting. take a deep breath, take it slowly. do what you feel comfortable doing. besides which, your 40yo has to be old enough to manage much on her own. [ Reply | More ]

She's not even 2 yet! Tops the charts - very pudgy. She has tantrums- more now with the new arrival. It's been worrying me. I don't understand why DH would relay this to me. [ Reply | More ]

take a deep breath. (sorry for the wrong assumption. i have a 3yo and a 5yo who aren't even close to 40 pounds yet!) it's hard having two under two, it's hard having a c-section, it's hard having a newborn. combine it all together and you are going to need to stay calm over the stupid stuff. and believe me, your dh telling you that someone else lifted kids before the doctor's ok counts as a stupid stuff. I agree your dh shouldn't be sharing this personal information, I also think it was extremely insensitive and stupid for the woman to comment she had the 'same exact thing...' and did xyz. Discuss your privacy concerns with dh when he gets home and g/l. [ Reply | More ]

Try not to worry about anyone else and just take care of yourself. Tell you DH--very kindly & calmly--what you need to get stronger. I haven't had a c-section but had a surgery w/ a similar incision & procedure. I was a personal trainer @ the time, very fit & healthy. I had a rough recovery and could barely walk right afterwards, let alone pick up a toddler. And they told me not to lift anything that weighed more than 10lbs. Hang in there, and good luck w/ both kids. [ Reply | More ]
