Heavy drinker here pg with dc #2 found out by Dr. Friday I am 4 wks. This question is asked a lot on here but the last month has been regular hevay drinking, 3 glasses/night for functions, work dinners. Reading up and many sites say brain development and not drinking now is more crucial now than ever. Doctors on here please confirm or deny or just help out! TIA. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

just stop drinking now, and you will likely be fine. if you are drinking so much that you might have physical withdrawal from stopping on your own, please see a doctor. could be dangerous otherwise. [ Reply | More ]

Sorry I am in fretting not as every article I am reading is saying that first 4 weeks are crucial. I conceived probably three weeks ago which put me at week five or 6 now. Every article is saying my chances of a mentally deformed db are v. high [ Reply | More ]

not to sound sanctimonious, but maybe use this time to re-evaluate how much you drink. [ Reply | More ]

I found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks. Had NO clue, was not trying, was not married. Conceived right before Thanksgiving, didn't find out New Year's. Holiday parties, lots of drinking, cough medicine for cold. Baby was 100% healthy. [ Reply | More ]

not to downplay the risks of drinking during pg, but honestly i don't think 3 drinks/day for that short a duration is going to cause any significant harm. please don't put so much faith in the 'sites' you're reading. talk to your doctor instead. so many websites and books overdramatize everything about pregnancy. they pretend that one drink will permanently scar your baby because they don't think women can be trusted to make judgement calls. I didn't know I was pg until wk 6, drank as usual plus went on wine tasting. Dc turned out fine and just fyi, ERB/SB 99th percentile, so don't worry. [ Reply | More ]
