Help- 11 month old ds just learned to sit from lying by himself. When he is on the floor he can go from sitting to lying and vice versa. Now when I put him in his crib he sits or knells and then becomes hyserical cause he can't get himself down. Happens at bedtime and if he wakes during the night. He use to be a good sleeper. WWYD? They all do this...it's an akward stage...he will figure out how to get himself down. He is scared, but let him figure it out. He will eventually get back to normal! THey get so exicted about being able to move, they want to do it all the time. [ Reply | More ]

but do i go in and help him or let him cry and figure it out. So hard cause it is when he is exhausted. the other night he wimpered and sat there falling to the side while he slept sitting. I think he is scared and want to help but don't want to create bad habits. what to do??? [ Reply | More ]

Just keep quiet when you go in, do not cuddle or create a new special time for the two of you. Make sure he is as safe as possible and just reposition him. He really will stop it within a month I would say. Both of mine did it, and they didn't have an audience so they stopped. Maybe introduce a new bedtime friend, like a glow in the dark Pooh thingy, or some other comfort. [ Reply | More ]

No, I didn't mean take away something else, I just meant giving him something special only when he wakes up. He will be okay. [ Reply | More ]

2 times is nothing - he will probably wake in the middle of the night and do it too. He honestly has no idea how to get back down - you have to help him. In a week or two it will be over, but until then you have to help. np [ Reply | More ]
