Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that Angelina had twins? I mean, if she had them "spontaneously" w/o fertility drugs, that would be unusual (I know it happens, but it's not the norm) and if she did it with the help of fertility drugs (or IVF), WHY? She's adopted several kids and had one already, why would she seek fertility help? The whole thing seems so strange to me. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Adopting all those kids seems strange to me, it's like what Mia Farrow was doing. However, I don't have their money or help, so maybe if my circumstances were different I'd have six kids, I doubt it, but who knows. My grandmother had twins at 42, obviously naturally. op: it's not that I mind or care if anyone does IVF or uses any other fertility help. Just throwing out there that the fact that Angelina might have used help is so weird, given that she already had a boat load of kids. [ Reply | More

I don't think adopting all the kids is weird. If my circumstances were different I could see fostering or adopting more than my two. But adopting so many so quickly into a life that already seems pretty peripatetic and busy--I'm not sure that's the best thing for the kids. The twins--I have no way to know whether it was natural or IVF so it seems a waste to speculate. [ Reply | More

interesting that nobody suspects that, naturally, it's IVF: Look at how underweight she was when she conceived. She probably had a "goal" in mind to have another child, became impatient when she didn't conceive right away and then sought help. That's my theory, anyway... [ Reply | More

ITA - i think its insane that a doctor would do IVF on her. she was way too thin when she conceived (I had to do IVF to get prego and the first thing that my RE told me to do was to gain 5 lbs to increase my chances of conceiving on my own) also most ethical REs wont even talk to you about IVF if you have been TTC for less than 6 - 12 mnths. i think her having twins is totally narcisistic. twin pregnancies are really risky - nobody ever thinks about that, just the 'glamour' of having twins. i dont mean to flame, but it annoys me. As a MOT, I see what you mean by the glamour of twins, but they are pretty commonplace these days. If it is your first pregnancy it can be an all in one deal, but otherwise an unplanned twin birth can really throw you and DH for all kinds of loops. [ Reply | More
