5 wks postpartum and have 5 pounds left to lose. Will that last bit come off from sweating/bf-ing still or am I going to have to suck it up and go on a diet to get rid of it? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

^^^and to answer your question that 5 lbs is a bitch before pregnancy, I have not given birth yet so I can't say about that. But the rule of thumb is up the cardio, and add weight bearing excercise, maybe a bootcamp class or train for a 5k 10k what ever your next leel would be. [ Reply | More ]

gained about 35 total. I've lost 30 so far from sweating/bf-ing. I think that is pretty normal--15 pounds the first week and another 15 in the next month. It's what's left that I so don't want to deal with (also, I was about 5 pounds over normal weight when I got pg, so at the end of the day I'd like to lose 10-ish). [ Reply | More ]

I don't think your weight loss is normal. [ Reply | More ]

Guess it's different for everyone, but I had the same loss pattern with #1, though I gained much more weight, so I was stuck with 10-15 pounds at the end to diet/exercise off. I also had pretty big babies and a lot of swelling at the end of the pgs, which obviously came off fast. [ Reply | More ]

Everyone I know, people of all different body types and sizes, have taken longer than what you describe to lose weight. What you are describing doesn't sound healthy, especially if you are breast feeding. [ Reply | More ]

I am eating pretty normally, though obviously I don't have much time to make elaborate meals. A lot of sandwiches and cereal and chinese takeout. Not exercising at all, unless you count walking to cvs and starbucks. Have been sweating like a pig, though that's tapering off and producing a lot of milk. Whatever. I guess everyone's different. ^^^ Haven't felt like eating any sweets or desserts, though, maybe that's made a difference? [ Reply | More ]

ok, that is inspiring, thank you, I'm such a whale right now, and my appetite is out if conrol...it subsided for a few weeks now it's back full force. If you haven't done any excercise, which you proably haven't since you are still healing add a half hour/hour walk once a day when you are ready, thatll burn some extra calories. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks, good call. And good luck to you! FWIW, I didn't gain any weight the last 3 weeks of pg, though I had certainly packed on the pounds early. [ Reply | More ]

we're you anxious about the weight when you gained it or did you know it would just come right off? [ Reply | More ]

I was anxious the whole time but only because I was going for vbac and there was concern that db would be big, which makes it harder. I really, really didn't want to gain more than 35 lbs, and made myself really watch it in the last trimester. [ Reply | More ]

Yes. From my experience (personal and from friends)one tends to lose more weight after stopping BF. [ Reply | More ]

I hear the exact opposite, I hear it helps you lose the inital weight pretty quickly, but then holds on to a few lbs. [ Reply | More ]

OR here: Yeah that is what I have heard too but from experience and from asking around it seems that BF makes it harder to lose weight and then once you stop it drops quickly. [ Reply | More ]

5 mos PP and EBF. I gained ~32 pounds during the pregnancy. I have since lost all of the weight and am two pounds less than my prepg weight, and ~ 2-3 lbs of my current weight is in my chest (depending on when DB last ate). Keep breastfeeding!!! [ Reply | More ]
