Chapin, and Spence and Brearley tied. My ranking is based on academic and non-academic aspects as well. [ Reply | More ]

This is an exercise in futility, and has been debated ad nauseum. It's impossible to rank these 3 schools. It really depends on the personality of the dd and the family. I really only saw Chapin as a fit for us. I know another mom whose dd was admitted to Chapin, but really wasnted Spence. It's all relative. [ Reply | More ]

np I saw our family at either S or C, and dd was lucky enough to get into both. Chose S, but would happily have gone to C. All three are great schools, imo. [ Reply | More ]

NP - When we went through the process, I saw our family at Brearley (we are Jewish and Democrat and I work) and DD at Chapin (she is very sweet and kind and well-behaved), but DD got into Spence and not B or C, so I guess the admissions people saw things differently. Turns out she loves Spence and so do we, and it couldn't be a better fit. At the end of the day the schools are more alike than different. [ Reply | More ]

I think it depends on what the parents want and dd's personality... Chapin girls seem gentle and sweet. Spence girls seem take charge and task oriented. Brearley girls seem individualist. [ Reply | More ]

She never said she was a native, and as a native, this isn't the order of schools. When I was in HS in the early 90's, Chapin had better college placement than Brearley and Spence. For families that lived on the UES, Chapin and Spence were more sought after. [ Reply | More ]

The long standing stereotype (not in any order)is Brearley (academic), Chapin (social) and Spence (artistic and well rounded). [ Reply | More ]

S, C, B. S, B, C. B, S, C. B, C, S. C, S, B. C, B, S. Honestly, the likelihood that your kid will be offered even ONE of the 150 seats a year those schools have in total is very slim. Worry when you have a choice. [ Reply | More ]
