not in nyc, but ds is turning 3 in the beginning of oct. he misses public schools cut off for pre-school, so im sending him to private. but if i don't repeat pre-school he will be the youngest (by almost a year) in his class when he starts regular school. is that fair to him??? I think thats up to you. Are you a sahm? Do you have other children? The choice to go to preschool doesn't really affect K. K is a shock to all of them, its more social than academic. Personally, I'd keep him home. They go to school soon enough. Let them be little and hang out with mom and play with bugs if you can. But, I don't know your situation. I read a good book, Preschoolers At Risk that talked about sending them too early if you want to check that out. [ Reply | More
