My 3 year old head butted me 3 times tonight. We were sitting really close as we had just finished reading and I told him it was bedtime. He did it once and it really hurt. I reacted and told him no. He did it again and I told him know. He did it a 3rd time and I lost it and slapped him across the face. He wailed. We talked and he told me he did it because he wanted another book. I told him I was wrong and we both apologized. I still feel horrible. Anyone BTDT? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

yikes. Do you do time outs or other discipline? I understand the urge, but I think it's never ok to slap your kid. Next time try immediate time out (or whatever you use) if he hurts you. [ Reply | More

We do other discipline. Mostly time outs or take a toy. I agree with you, he is actually almost 4 and this has happened two other times over the last 6 months. So it is something I work on but I just screwed up tonight. [ Reply | More
