Friend is having emergency c-section today and she is 34 weeks. She is beyond scared and worried and I am just hoping everything will be okay. Obviously I know 34 weeks is early - anyone deliver or know anyone who delivered at 34 weeks? Did everything turn out okay (I know it depends on a host of specific variables - would just love to hear a positive story). Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I know someone who went at 32 weeks and db was ok, but had to stay in the neonatal unit for a few weeks. Now mother and son are doing very well. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks - I know it may sound silly, as someone's positive outcome has nothing to do with my friend and what issues her baby may or may not have - just worried and wanted to hear that things at least can be okay. [ Reply | More ]

It's not silly at all and although 34 weeks is early, it's not that early. Try not to worry, it will be okay. There are so many treatments and options today. [ Reply | More ]

My 5yo dd was a 30 weeker, emergency c-section (so no steroids given for lung development). She's fine. 4 weeks in the NICU. [ Reply | More ]

DD was born at 35 weeks. (I went into labor then.) She was tiny (4.1), but healthy (could breathe on her own and was able to feed). She spent a week in the NICU as a precaution (for low birthweight). She is 3 now and great! :) [ Reply | More ]

My oldest was born at 32 weeks. He was intubated at birth for respiratory distress (although his birth mother did have the steroid shot) and he was in the NICU for about a month, came home on O2. He's 6 now though and so handsome and bright. My sis is a NICU nurse. 34 weeks is really good. [ Reply | More ]
