How to deal w/sibling jealousy? 3 y/o has started kicking and hitting 1 y/o. I know it's for attention and we try to lavish him w/ ind. attention but hitting has to stop. He doesn't understand though and thinks it is a joke. Yesterday he hit the baby on the head and got time out. While I was explaining no hitting, he reached over my shoulder and bit baby's hand. I am at a loss. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Don't talk. Just pick him up and move him away. [ Reply | More ]

Exact same problem here. If my toddler hits his baby brother with an object (yes it is that bad in our home!) that object is confiscated. If it is general hitting/pushing etc I confiscate his favorite toy. A warning that he is about to lose his favorite toy is enough to stop him hitting for a while anyway. GL [ Reply | More ]
