My future sister in law's friend told me about some ideas she had for the upcoming bridal shower and one of them was a craft project that might be appropriate for a 6 year old birthday party. I politely told her I thought the money could better be spent elsewhere (there isn't much to spend) and that I really liked some of the other ideas but haven't heard back from her. This was 2 days ago. She has a young baby too, so I'm hoping that's why I haven't heard from her...not that she thinks I'm a total b-tch. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Well, if she didn't like your opinion, she did ask for it. However, it might hedge your bets to type her an e-mail and say "I hope you didn't think the way I phrased my opinion was offputting or insulting. I did not intend for it to be so, and I apologize if my words hurt you in any way." That gives her the opportunity to feel like the bigger person and say "Oh, goodness no. I didn't take it that way at all!" But she'll still get the message that the craft project was silly and be able to change her mind about it "on her own". [ Reply | More
