Has anyone had problems with recurrent clogged milk ducts? Mine started when DD was 1 month old and she is now 4.5 months old. I sometimes get several a week (on both sides) and have to make sure that I don't go too long between feedings. DD does not need a night feeding anymore but I still need to wake up to pump otherwise I will be in trouble the next morning. I must have ultra-sensitive breasts because I even need to sleep in a contorted side-back position to ward off clogging. It seems like stress, overtiredness and engorgement are my enemies. Talk to a lactation consultant. Lecithin supplements are sometimes used for this - kellymom might have info. [ Reply | More ]

I've had two clogged ducts and both times it was because I wore a regular bra instead of my nursing bra. Your problem is obviously much worse. Do you sleep in a bra? [ Reply | More ]

No, I don't sleep in a bra because I've been afraid that the edges of the bra would constrict the ducts near my armpits while I'm sleeping. Do you think it would help? [ Reply | More ]
