No. Get one of Ellyn Satter's books if you're feeling stressed about it. [ Reply | More ]

Yes. Your doc is not worried but YOU should definitely be. Why listen to your doc? [ Reply | More ]

my dd weighted 22 lbs at 15 months and was 75% for height and 25% for weight and FWIW, she eats a ton. Have spoken to several peds about this and is not a cause for concern. [ Reply | More ]

I posted about Ellyn Satter. My DS has always been in the 5th-10th%ile for weight & height. He started out as a preemie and has just stayed small. He eats, he's healthy, he's handsome, he's bright. I don't see the problem. Someone has to be at that %ile or the charts don't work. It's not going to change what I do--I refuse to be one of those ridiculous moms following their kids around w/ a spoonful of food, begging that they eat, jumping up to get them one of the five foods the like. It is what it is. [ Reply | More ]

In my case, I am pointing out the discrepency between height/weight percentiles (25 vs 75%) as the issue. Whats more significant is if there is a change in percentile over time (for ex, if db started out at 50%'ile and then dropped down to 9%) associated with other med. problems or delays. some kids are just naturally smaller. I know, and I should have said that too. But if it's always been this way or there isn't a significant change then there's nothing to worry about. I was hasty--I have been around several moms lately who freak over this and it drives me nuts. [ Reply | More ]
