Been TTC for over 2 years - 1 miscarriage a year ago. Been through numberous tests (I have a blocked right tube) and 3 IUI's, all unsuccessful. Now have an appointment with a RE. Just wondering what to expect? Am I going straight to IVF?? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If your eggs are fine it does sound like you're headed in that direction. Do you and DH know how far you want to take tx? [ Reply | More ]

If RE says IVF, yes, we will go there. I know it will be super expensive. I'm just wondering if we will have to, since I have gotten preg on my own. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know for sure. I've never been pg. My problem was high FSH (diminished ovarian reserve). We did one IVF but it was a huge failure so they started pushing DE and then we switched to adoption. What are your other options? Would they do a different drug protocal w/ the iui? They will/should retest you to look at your hormone levels, etc. That's when they caught my high FSH--it hadn't shown up before. The fact that you have gotten pg before is a good thing. I'm sorry about the FSH. I don't know much about that, I've only had 1 FSH level taken and it came back normal. I was on Femara (my doctor thinks it's better than Chlomid) and a HCG trigger shot before each IUI, however, I was ovulating from my right ovary each month, so the chances were really low. We didn't know about the blocked tube until after the last IUI when they decided to do a HSG(?) test. After the test, my doctor referred me to an RE. BTW, I'm 31. DH and I haven't really looked at alternatives yet. We talked a little about adoption, but nothing serious yet... [ Reply | More ]

Anyway you slice it, it's just such a hard thing to deal with. I was 31 when we started ttc. The thing with the FSH is the number changes every month and you're only as good as your worse number (which is the highest one). I got a very high one the month we started IVF, so we knew the outlook wasn't good. But we switched right to adoption and now I've got two fantastic kids--absolutely the kids who were supposed to be with us. I'm very, very lucky. Hang in there. [ Reply | More ]

Hang in there, you will. It was so hard waiting, but then when DS & DD showed up it was totally why I had to wait. If you have any adoption questions let me know. GL. [ Reply | More ]
