I think I'm a nice person who is easy to get along with but I have a really difficult time making friends. I know I'm introverted, reclusive and stink at small talk. How can I put myself out there and make friends with other moms? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm like you. I find the people I'm friendliest with are the opposite of me ie very loud and confident (but also very nice). I like the fact that they are the organizer/chatty one which leaves me to be quiet. I think they like the audience too! You are right and I seem to get to that point and that's where it stops. Just "Hi, how are you...blah blah blah weather, kid stuff, husbands" It never gets to the real friend stage where you get together for non-kid related stuff as well and play dates etc. I'm such a social cripple. [ Reply | More

Have you ever tried asking? I know I'm not an organizer but I'm happy to go along with things that are going on. If you have a group of People you meet regularly through your kids or whatever why not trying asking if anyone fancies seeing a movie or trying out a bar/coffee shop because you feel like getting out more. The worse they can do is say no. Once you have done it once it gets so much easier. GL [ Reply | More
